Rose Woodyard
Rose is co-owner of Newfound Woodworks and an award-winning master craftsman who grew up paddling and rowing the lakes and rivers of Nebraska and surrounding Midwestern states. With a family background in construction, working with wood has always been part of her life.
A third-generation award-winning artist since the age of 15, Rose has pursued artistic creation both privately and professionally in several mediums of art throughout her life. After moving to New Hampshire in 2004, she continued to nurture her passion for creating art and teaching.
“It’s only natural that handcrafting beautiful works of art with wood and boatbuilding go hand in hand for me,” Rose explains. “It is the greatest pleasure to teach and share boatbuilding to help keep this traditional craft alive.”
Together with co-owner Alan Mann, they share a deep appreciation for creating objects that are both beautiful and functional. When not teaching the art of boatbuilding, Rose and Alan can be found at Newfound Woodworks, continuing a 41-year tradition of manufacturing complete boat kits, creating precision wooden components, and crafting award-winning fine strip boats for clients that have earned recognition as “functional works of art.”
Away from the shop, the couple enjoys paddling their handcrafted boats on the water, taking motorcycle rides through the countryside, or relaxing together with a good movie.
