Kim Walther

For the past 30+ years, I’ve sailed as an ASA instructor for 101, 103, 104, 105, 114, 117 courses. I teach year-round for St. Augustine Sailing in St. Augustine, Florida. Two years ago at St. Augustine Sailing, we introduced a Women on the Water program for which I wrote the course syllabus and produced all the instructional materials for weekly lessons. Also, I teach an international online Safety at Sea seminar a couple times a year for American Sailing. My passion is teaching practical solutions to adverse situations, and what to do in emergency situations. My license is 100 ton near coastal (offshore) master’s license, which I have held for several decades. I earned my sea time working on the Windjammer fleet in Maine. My lessons are designed to challenge everyone from beginner to advanced students. There’s always something to learn! I recently taught Safety at Sea seminars for the World Cruising Club – including sailors who have sailed around the world, but they learned and were excited to master skills. My husband and I cycle, scuba dive, boat, and cater to our cats.
