This is a 3-day course, from 9:00am-3:00pm Friday-Sunday at The Landing School, Arundel, Maine.
Building boats calls for many odd or specialized tools, many of which are no longer commercially available. If there is a modern tool available, often it is low quality or not quite the right tool for the job. Join Jake Greiner and learn how to build your own! Over the course of three days, you will make a small brass bevel gauge perfect for picking up the angles between planks on a carvel-planked boat, a sturdy pencil compass perfect for spiling those planks, and a wooden mallet good for chiseling, caulking seams, or general persuasion of stubborn parts. The course will cover some basic metalworking skills and some basic woodworking skills, and you will bring home a set of three tools ready to use on your next project!
