This is a five-day course.
Spend a week with Bruce Mackenzie learning everything you need to know about getting started in lathe work. The week will begin with orientation to the lathe, hand tools and materials used in this woodcraft. From there, students will learn spindle turning by making various items like rigging fids, carving mallets and more. Later in the week Bruce will introduce the concept of bowl turning, and the different tools and materials of this deep subject matter. There will be plenty of blanks and time for students to try different skills and make mistakes, which is crucial to learning any new craft. If you have previously used a lathe or are completely new, everyone will come away with new skills and inspiration. Students should expect to take home some items from class at the end of the week.
