In our Advanced Sailing course, students who have moderate small-boat sailing experience will have the chance to continue to master and fine-tune their boating skills. You will work toward handling our vessels competently and confidently. A variety of more challenging tactical/navigational exercises will be presented and mixed with more relaxing excursions. This allows a nice variety throughout the week . If you’re a graduate of Elements I and have been sailing while away, this is the perfect second step in your mastery of sailing. Essentially, this course is about sailing, sailing, and more sailing!
Becoming a sailor takes time (more than one sailing course, we can promise), and it takes work. To ensure that you not find yourself “in over your head” in our Advanced Sailing course, we ask that you have sailing experience. You should feel reasonably comfortable sailing a small boat from a mooring or dock, and returning her safely, using crew to help. If you have taken Elements I and not continued sailing at home, Advanced Sailing is not recommended. Improving your sailing skills will ultimately increase your enjoyment of the sport. Who is this course best suited for?
This course is appropriate for students with some knowledge and experience. Basic knowledge and ability to sail is required for most waterfront courses.
This course involves a moderate level of activity throughout the week including: having adequate balance and agility to get in and out of boats on a moving float or other boats.
