Joel Senger
Joel Senger grew up on the shores of the Great Lakes in southwest Michigan. It was in his father’s wood shop that he found his first passion in life, building anything out of wood, the more complex, the better. After graduating from the International Yacht Restoration School in his early twenties, Joel was fortunate enough to work on the build team for a several notable vessels. The 6 Meter Cherokee and the NY 30 Amorita were his favorite projects. Joel joined the faculty at IYRS School of Technology and Trades in 2011. On the shop floor of Restoration Hall he found his second passion in life, teaching. He spent the next 10 years as one of the instructors for the wooden boat program. Last year he moved with his family to Vermont where he started a major restoration of an old Victorian house and spent some time on skis for the first time in twenty years.
