This is one-week of a two-week class ending on Friday

This is a special opportunity to attend the second week of a two week course.

In this course, Clint will take the class through all facets of building this modern, computer-designed and precut kit, from gluing-in interior components to hanging the rudder. The plan is to finish the hull and spars in 2023, and bend on sail in 2024 when the boat becomes an active member of the school’s fleet!

After turning the boat over early in the second week, the class will get busy building the interior and installing the remaining parts of the kit: tank tops and side benching, as well as inwales, cleating, and floor timbers. Meanwhile the daggerboard and rudder work will continue. The course will finish with going for a test row and having a comprehensive go-through of the remaining work to be done.

The Calendar Islands Yawl was born out of the waters around the rocky coast of Maine. The CIY is ideal for those wanting to camp-cruise, go daysailing, and explore the coast or lakes in beautiful fashion and versatility. The boat is a great size for taking the whole family or friends, yet the boat can be set up for singlehanding. The interior is open and inviting, and allows for side-bench seating in the cockpit and crew seating on the ’midship thwart. The yawl’s sailing performance is excellent with her strong bearing aft and powerful lug rig. Yet, when you drop the rig and row, she will glide and track nicely over long distances.
