WOODENBOAT SCHOOL on board WANDERBIRD
12 fascinating days exploring the southern coast of Newfoundland.
Captains Rick and Karen Miles — July 1–12

WoodenBoat School and Captains Rick and Karen Miles invite you to join them for a fascinating expedition on board the 90' WANDERBIRD. Traveling along the southern coast of Newfoundland from Port aux Basques to St. John’s, we will explore deep and mighty fiords where the cliffs rise straight up hundreds of feet. We’ll travel miles inland to our incredibly protected anchorages where very few vessels venture. We will also visit some of the few remaining outposts that can only be reached by boat and meet some of the hardy folk who still fight for a living from the sea. The whales, seabirds, and other creatures in this part of the world are incredible. During the voyage, WANDERBIRD also plans to visit the offshore islands of Ramea and French-owned St. Pierre and Miquelon.

WANDERBIRD is a traditionally styled vessel with modern navigation and safety equipment. Her steel and wood construction combines the 20th-century’s highest safety standards with the authenticity of a classic 19th-century vessel. She is a combination of several elements: a traditional ketch auxiliary sailing rig, classic yacht design interiors, a gourmet galley, and the strength, ruggedness, and integrity of a working fishing vessel with capabilities for offshore adventure.
