EMILY MARSHALL

The EMILY MARSHALL, a 36' Samuel Crocker gaff yawl, was built in 1946 at the George Guilford yard in Saugus, Massachusetts, for naval historian Samuel Eliot Morison. She was completely rebuilt in 2003 by Brooklin boatbuilder Brion Rieff. While the exterior has been kept original, owner Bruce Fowler modified her interior to accommodate offshore cruising. Crocker designed a very high gaff peak which gives her remarkable ability to weather. Her mizzen is very much a part of the working sail plan and offers a variety of sail sets depending on weather conditions. In a heavy blow, jib and jigger provide a wonderful option. In light or no air, her new Westerbeke provides plenty of forward motion. The EMILY MARSHALL is steady, well-balanced, and has a good turn of speed. She can easily be sailed with a crew of one or two and promises to be a great learning experience while exploring the Maine coast.
