SEASCAPE/LANDSCAPE IN WATERCOLOR
The sea, the sky, and boats, for beginners on up.
- CAROL SEBOLD — AUGUST 8–14
With an outstanding reputation in the art world, Carol has made a livelihood with her beautiful, atmospheric coastal scenes. She will begin each day with a demonstration—picking a subject, sketching it, and then rendering it in watercolors, explaining all the while what she is doing. Then the students will try the same scene while the instructor moves from student to student, dispensing help and advice as needed. Emphasis will be on basic techniques of watercolor and some sketching, perspective, and value studies and the anatomy of objects; you’ll learn how to make a boat look like a boat. You’ll find out about mixing colors and the hows and whys of various techniques—wet on wet, dry brush, dry into wet, and wet into dry. You’ll be challenged to capture and interpret the moods of water, its reflections and transparency, its motion. With Carol’s expert and gentle instruction we guarantee a fun and inspiring
week!
Tuition: $700
Carol Sebold is exceptional. She is the third teacher I have worked with and, by far, the best. In addition to being an accomplished professional artist, Carol is an excellent teacher who achieves results with all of her students regardless of their experience.
