MARTI SIEBERT first sailed the cold waters of Maine in 1969, losing her first race to her grandfather (whom she later learned had cheated!). It took quite a while for her to recover from the outcome, but Marti took up sailing again in the ‘80s with her husband-to-be, JED. They moved to Maine from northeastern Kansas (yes, there is sailing there; great wind!) in 1999 and haven’t looked back since. Jed went to work at Brooklin Boat Yard and Marti was employed at the local marine supply store. When Center Harbor Sails in Brooklin went up for sale soon after, Marti purchased the business and the loft. She has found it to be an excellent way to combine her love of sailing with her training as an industrial designer. Jed joined the sailmaking crew in 2004. They both look forward to eventually finishing the overhaul on their Pacific Seacraft Flicka and getting back to exploring the magnificent coastline of Maine.
