Growing up on an estuary in the southwest of England, JENNY BENNETT first went sailing when her family bought a 12' lapstrake daysailer—she was two years old. Since then, boats have been a major part of her life. As a kid, Jenny joined the local sailing club and spent her summers racing in dinghies; as a teenager, she taught at the local sailing school; and as a college student, Jenny captained the University of Wales sailing team. After graduation she set sail for the Caribbean aboard ATLANTIC CLIPPER, a cargo-carrying 110' steel wishbone ketch, and spent a year as part of a six-hand crew delivering cargo to and from England and the West Indies. Following that experience, Jenny taught dinghy sailing in the Greek islands for six months before finally returning to the U.K. to join Classic Boat magazine as its sailing editor. In 1992 she became the founding editor of The Boatman magazine. From 1994 until the fall of 1997 she was the managing editor of WoodenBoat.
